Introducing University Awareness Week
At TESI, we believe that knowledge is power—but access to the right knowledge is what truly changes lives. This is especially true when it comes to higher education. Too often, young people leave secondary school full of potential, yet unsure of what lies ahead. Which universities exist in Uganda? What courses do they offer? How do you apply? How do you prepare? These are the questions TESI University Awareness Week is designed to answer.
I’m proud to introduce our inaugural TESI University Awareness Week—a dynamic online and community-driven initiative aimed at spotlighting the wide range of public and private universities and institutions in Uganda. This week is about sharing real information, real stories, and real opportunities with the students who need them most.
Many secondary school students and recent graduates—especially those from low-income, underserved backgrounds—have limited access to accurate information about university life, academic programmes, admissions processes, and financial aid. They often rely on rumors or outdated information, which can lead to missed opportunities and misinformed decisions.
TESI University Awareness Week seeks to bridge that gap. Through digital storytelling, interactive features, and peer-to-peer sharing, we are bringing Uganda’s higher education landscape closer to the students we serve.
Throughout the week, we’ll be spotlighting various public and private universities and institutions across Uganda—sharing details about their campuses, faculties, admission requirements, scholarships, student life, and more. Our goal is to demystify these institutions and make them feel real and accessible to every young person with a dream.
Even more exciting, we’re turning to our greatest asset—our community. Members of the TESI WhatsApp group will share personal stories and lived experiences of university life. From navigating online admissions to adjusting to hostel life, these firsthand accounts will offer honest, practical, and inspiring insights into what it truly means to be a student in Uganda today.
TESI is built on the twin pillars of career guidance and ICT integration—and this week reflects both. We will equip students with tools to explore courses that align with their career goals and provide digital guides to help them apply online, prepare for university, and succeed once there.
Whether you’re a student, alumnus, teacher, parent, or partner—there’s a place for you in TESI University Awareness Week. Share your story. Encourage someone. Help spread the word. This initiative isn’t just about universities; it’s about opening doors, raising aspirations, and creating a pathway for every learner to thrive.
On behalf of the TESI team, I invite you to follow, participate, and engage. Let’s make the future of higher education in Uganda more informed, more inclusive, and more inspiring—one story at a time.
